Few men attending adult classes in Salima

The Assemblies of God Relief and Development Services (Agreds) has expressed concern over fewer men enrolling for adult literacy education in Salima.

Agreds projects officer Pearson Banda was speaking on Wednesday when he opened a two-day training workshop for adult literacy teachers.

He said there was need for men to change their mindsets about education if there is to be improvement in fighting illiteracy levels.

“In most schools last year, the number of women was more than men, a development we fear will create friction in families from the education gaps,” said Banda

Agreds, a development arm of the Malawi’s Assemblies of God, is offering adult literacy education to Salima communities with financial assistance from the Scottish government through Tear fund.
